The 2005 season was warm with well timed rain that produced balanced wines of intensity and richness. Balgownie Estate Shiraz typically shows a deep red colour and has vibrant berry fruit aromas and subtle use of oak. The wine is made in a concentrated yet elegant, medium bodied style with a velvety texture and fine lingering tannins. While approachable in its youth the Balgownie Estate Shiraz can be cellared over the medium to long term.

"Ruby-red. Intensely perfumed nose features vibrant raspberry and kirsch scents underscored by fresh floral and mineral accents. Silky, seductively sweet red berry flavors are framed and lifted by zesty acidity, with slow-building, fine-grained tannins on the finish. A very graceful example of shiraz, with outstanding precision and depth of sweet fruit."
