Recent Accolades
7 February 2008
In recent times many accolades have been accorded upon Balgownie Estate wines, the following are a selection.
2004 Balgownie Estate Bendigo Shiraz (SOLD OUT)
"One of the great Australian wine estates of yesteryear. Now under new ownership, it's making a strident comeback equal to any of the greatest Melbourne Cup finishes. On the bouquet, black olives, cherry and white pepper flirt with rich, ripe plummy aromas. While the flavours on the palate are concentrated and impressive, they retain a certain modesty and elegance supported by small and supple tannins. A complex and sophisticated wine, which unlike many of the bigger ‘iconic' Barossa wines, leaves you wanting for more." CNBC European Business http://cnbceb.com/2008/01/01/indulgences-wine-2/2/
2005 Balgownie Estate Bendigo Shiraz
"Firm, in classic Balgownie/Bendigo style; rich blackberry fruits, licorice and splashes of red fruits and allied spices; fine tannins, long finish."
94 points James Halliday
2006 Balgownie Estate Yarra Valley Chardonnay
"I’d say this is close to being the perfect twenty dollar chardonnay. It has interest, freshness and excellent drinkability. Bang on."
