Good rains at the end of the drought set the vineyards up for an excellent 2010 harvest The fruit for this wine was hand harvested in pristine condition.

The grapes for our Balgownie Estate Black Label are sourced from Bendigo, Central Victoria & the Yarra Valley.

Shiraz was first planted at Balgownie Estate by Stuart Anderson in 1969, followed in 1974 by a second planting. The carefully selected site in Maiden Gully near Bendigo has provided excellent conditions throughout its 40 year history, producing impressive reds since the first released Estate range.

The fruit for this wine comes from the Central Victorian region of Bendigo, highly regarded for producing wines of elegance, structure and longevity.

The grapes for our Balgownie Black Label Chardonnay were sourced from the Yarra Valley.

This 2011 Pinot Noir has a lifted bouquet of fresh strawberry and cherry fruits with hints of forest floor complexity and fine French oak.

Balgownie Estate introduced Sauvignon Blanc & Pinot Gris to the Black Label Range for the first time in 2009. The two have become highly popular varietals for the Yarra Valley and for Balgownie Estate.

First planted in 1969 in the red, sandy clay loams at Balgownie Estate, the best 12 rows of this original block have produced an intense fruit driven Old Vine Shiraz. Limited stock available.

Estate Cabernet was planted over 40 years ago on the land acquired by Stuart Anderson at Maiden Gully and to this day remains the cornerstone of Balgownie Estate range. Awarded 96 points by respected wine critic Jeremy Oliver (Wine Annual 2013)

The 2010 Estate Chardonnay has a bouquet that exhibits lifted aromas of fresh pear and white nectarine together with savoury nuances of grilled nuts. A complex palate follows, showcasing creamy yeast derived complexity and excellent concentration, leading to a long fine acid finish.

Balgownie Estate Shiraz typically shows a deep red colour and has vibrant berry fruit aromas and subtle use of oak. Highly rated by Rob Geddes (Master of Wine) and Jeremy Oliver (Leading Wine Judge), Balgownie Estate Shiraz is one to savour now or keep for long periods.

Hand picked from the 40 & 35 year old vines at Balgownie Estate

The wine has had a small percentage of Viognier added in order to maximize complexity. Opaque, black crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Excellent nose with aromas of spice, blackcurrant, liquorice and violets.
