Balgownie Estate Bendigo & Yarra Valley
Balgownie Estate is one of Australia’s great small vineyards famed for its long lived Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Established in 1969 by the highly regarded winemaker Stuart Anderson, the vineyard and winery are located at Maiden Gully near the historic gold mining town of Bendigo, just 150km northwest of Victoria’s capital city Melbourne.
In 1999 Balgownie Estate was purchased by the Forrester family, passionate wine lovers with a determination to build on the Estate’s illustrious history.
Today, the Bendigo vineyard has expanded to 30 hectares with plantings of cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, pinot noir, and chardonnay as well as smaller quantities of merlot cabernet franc, sangiovese and viognier.
Balgownie Estate is proud of its continued and ever growing reputation for fine, award-winning wines.
Balgownie Estate Vineyard Resort and Spa recently opened at Balgownie Estate in the Yarra Valley, less than an hour’s drive from Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, and one of the fastest growing tourism regions in Australia.
